Meet Jason Borte
A Virginia Beach native, Jason has decades of experience riding waves around the world, both recreationally and professionally. A teacher at heart and uniquely tied to his home, Jason loves sharing his passion with eager students. “My local spot was, is, and always will be First Street Jetty,” Jason says. “Everywhere else is a novelty.”

JBSS Has Merged With Wave Riding Vehicles
Beginning summer of 2026, we return to where it all started. Jason Borte Surf School has merged with legendary retailer Wave Riding Vehicles to create the ultimate camp experience for surfers at every level. Jason Borte Surf School is now part of WRV Surf Camps, as Jason brings his background as a longtime educator along with his hall of fame surfing career to the program he started back in 1997. WRV Surf Camps will provide beginner and intermediate sessions as well as private and group lessons, all with the level of caring and professionalism you’ve come to expect from Jason’s camps. As always, we look forward to helping you achieve your surfing goals and can’t wait to see you at the beach.
